Sometimes you just have to

I am in a gospel stage play For the Love of Money that will be in Charlotte,NC on October 30th Uptown at the Halton Theater. Tickets are on sale now visit www.fortejrproductions.com to buy your ticket. (Shameless plug, sorry it had to be done) The reason why I mentioned this play is because the director made a huge sacrifice for the play that a lot of people would not have made. In order to pay for the building that we are having the play in, he had to sell his car which was his only form of transportation to have enough money to put a deposit down. Now that is big to me. He believes in his dream so much, that he gave up his car to make sure the show goes on. In practice we all went around the room and told him how much we appreciate him for what he did for us. When it was my turn, I told him that when something is worth fighting for you sometimes have to do things that you do not want to do. Sacrifices will have to be made, there are no if ands buts or maybes. Sometimes you are just going to have to do it. In order for us to be saved from damnation, Jesus had to die on the cross and HE did for you and me. So if you ever want to do something that is worth doing, be happy when you have to sacrifice somethings because that is how you know it will be all worth it in the end.

John 3:16-18

16 -18"This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person's failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.

Whose Kingdom will you build?

Some people are so caught up in their lives that they do not realize that God is the source of their existence. People are so busy building "their kingdom" that they forget about the most important kingdom of all, God's Kingdom. When you focus on building God's kingdom, your "kingdom" will be blessed and it will flourish. Seek ye first the kingdom of God. That is the best advice ever. Don't get stressed out when things are not going your way because more than likely that is not what you are suppose to be doing. Find out what God has for your life and purse it and your life will be prosperous and full of purpose.

Matthew 6: 33
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Where your treasure is, that is where your heart is!

I was talking to my girlfriend this morning because I have been waiting for an "important person" to email me. I was acting like a kid on a trip asking every 5 seconds if they are there yet. Checking my email every 5 minutes or wanted to text the middleman (middle woman in this case) to make sure that he has my correct email. Then getting mad when I found out that the "important person" tried to email me and it would not let him send it. So I frantically went to my email to try and rectify the problem and sat back mad because his email did not come through. That is when I read the daily proverb on Bible.com and was immediately slapped back to reality. The proverb spoke about not working to be rich because wealth can be here today and gone tomorrow, and to seek the kingdom of God first and everything will be added unto you. That made me think about myself in the sense that I do not need to try and seek man's approval but seek the Lord's approval. The Lord is the only one that has the power to put me in any position on this earth and keep me there no matter what happens. So after reading that proverb my whole attitude has changed about this world. Through faith, prayer and hard work I will seek the Lord first and allow him to guide my steps and my life. You should do the same!

Matthew 6:31-33:
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Jesus Saves

No matter what you say or what you believe the rules are the same. You cannot enter heaven unless you are saved. God's got a way that you can't go over, a way you can't go under, a way you can't go around. You must come in at the door.
I'm an avid watcher of First 48. I watch it ever day. One thing that a family member always says is "I'm glad they are in a better place". Who am I to judge or correct someone? However what I do know is that according to the way they died, or what they were doing before their death, I'm not too sure he was a Christian.
One must be saved before entering heaven. You have to give your life to Christ and fully commit. You have to confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Christ died for your sins. The only way to God is through Jesus.
I say this to say if you are walking around thinking because you are a nice person you do not have to be saved to go to heaven, you are wrong. There is a process and after the process there is continued behavior expected.

Romans 10:4-10
4 -10The earlier revelation was intended simply to get us ready for the Messiah, who then puts everything right for those who trust him to do it. Moses wrote that anyone who insists on using the law code to live right before God soon discovers it's not so easy—every detail of life regulated by fine print! But trusting God to shape the right living in us is a different story— no precarious climb up to heaven to recruit the Messiah, no dangerous descent into hell to rescue the Messiah. So what exactly was Moses saying?

The word that saves is right here,
as near as the tongue in your mouth,
as close as the heart in your chest. It's the word of faith that welcomes God to go to work and set things right for us. This is the core of our preaching. Say the welcoming word to God—"Jesus is my Master"—embracing, body and soul, God's work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead. That's it. You're not "doing" anything; you're simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you. That's salvation. With your whole being you embrace God setting things right, and then you say it, right out loud: "God has set everything right between him and me!"

Do not go another day believing you are going to a better place if you are not save. Call your pastor right now or send us a email so that we can help you take the steps tobecome saved Until next time....

Going Through the Fire

Many people don't understand why God would allow them to suffer and not save them from the trails and tribulations in their life. Looking back on my life there has been many situations where I been through the fire and wondered why God allowed it to happen especially when I prayed and asked God to order my steps. Wasn't until yesterday that I finally got my revelation.
Like I said, I have been through a lot yet one of my most notable rough times would be in 2006 when I had to move from Montgomery, Al to Charlotte, NC. It was a rough time since I lost my job (over the race card), my boyfriend dumped me, my parents sold my house, and my car broke down. Not to mention I had a drinking problem and my self esteem was out of wack. All I wanted to do was get myself together. I prayed for the Lord to change me and my situation. So when my dad told me that he was going to "make" me move away from Montgomery, Al and to Charlotte, NC I didn't see that that was God's way of lining up my escape from the fire. I just thought it was another coal added.
I month or so after moving to Charlotte, NC things begin to turn around. I didn't know anyone there so it was just me and God. I was no longer around the bad influences that were bringing me down. Nor was around the boyfriend holding me back. I slowly got my life back together and was delivered from it all. I came out of that wiser and stronger. It was something I had to go through to grow and to be a witness to others.
So if you are going through the fire thank the Lord because it is going to make you come out more refined and stronger. Rest assure you will not be in that fire alone for God will be by your side the whole time.

Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (NIV)

Until next time....
