Sometimes the best person to get a job done is a woman. No matter how much a man feels dominate and powerful, it takes a woman to actually execute and make sure things get done. I have personally been struggling with this issue. I grew up watching my mother take the lead role for most of the first half of my life. My father was in the military (navy) which required him to be gone a lot. I never understood why, I just knew it was his job. Nevertheless, it was my mother who held down the fort and made sure things got done. This in turn conditioned me to feel as though woman are to take charge and be in the lead. Then comes the second half of my life where my father is present (he retired) and now he is the head of the house hold. Then I start learning things like wives be submissive, men are to lead the church, fathers are the head of the house hold. I was left confused. Am I suppose to do for my self and lead or be submissive and let the man in my life take charge.
Lately, I been dealing with this issue. My business partner happens to be my main squeeze. When it comes to business, I like to dominate, but in the same since, I do not want to hurt his ego and over power him in any situation. There are a lot of things I fall back from and let him handle. Yet it is still that part of me that wants to rule and be the boss. I want the driver seat. I didn't really seek God about this but its apparent that it could become a major issue in the future.
I have been reading Judges and I am on chapter 4. In chapter 4 it tells about the children of Israel completely losing their mind. They were into all that is bad under God, so He let some other countries come and take them into captivity. This woke them up and they started to cry out to God. So God arranged it for a man named Barak to go and free them from captivity. Barak wouldn't go however if the prophetess Deborah wouldn't go. She was a judge (yes a judge). She tells him, if I go, then its ultimately going to be a woman who gets credit for all this. He says cool, (blows her off), and she goes.
Barak goes to battle and kills every soldier they were fighting, but the leader, the one man he went after gets away. He flees, sees a woman and ask her to hide him. She lets him in her house, makes sure he gets something to drnk. Let him get some sleep. Then while he was sleep, she takes a tent nail and a hammer and beats it into his temple. She kills him.
Judges 4
18Meanwhile Sisera, running for his life, headed for the tent of Jael, wife of Heber the Kenite. Jabin king of Hazor and Heber the Kenite were on good terms with one another. Jael stepped out to meet Sisera and said, "Come in, sir. Stay here with me. Don't be afraid."

So he went with her into her tent. She covered him with a blanket.
19 He said to her, "Please, a little water. I'm thirsty."
She opened a bottle of milk, gave him a drink, and then covered him up again.
20 He then said, "Stand at the tent flap. If anyone comes by and asks you, 'Is there anyone here?' tell him, 'No, not a soul.'"
21 Then while he was fast asleep from exhaustion, Jael wife of Heber took a tent peg and hammer, tiptoed toward him, and drove the tent peg through his temple and all the way into the ground. He convulsed and died.
There are times when woman have to fall back, and there are times when woman have to step up. I learned that woman do not have to be dominate forces all the time. Sometimes we need to be like Deborah, a supporter, and go along to be at a man's side. Sometimes we have to be a Jael and take matters into our own hands. The situation will show it self and as woman of God, we will know which role to take on. Until next time...
