It seems as if our country is in a uproar right now. The bill for Health Reform has passed and some American people are angry. It seems as though it is a battle now between the have and have-nots. I was watching the news and was sadden with the way some American people are responding to the bill passing. They are vandalizing representatives offices, they are yelling racial slurs, and other things that are beginning to anger me. However, one thing I learned in my studies today is to obey authority.
The people leading our country were all put there by God. God felt that the person, whether it be your representative, your Governor, or your president would be the perfect man or woman to lead. We are to trust God's decision and do our part and obeying the laws that are set. If the leader is out of order or out of hand, then we have to trust God will handle that person.
I'm not saying its wrong to disagree with some of the decisions made, but it is wrong to harass those who have to make those tough decisions. I am saying it is wrong to publicly curse other individuals. If you have found your self saying rude and ungodly things about your leader, you need to take time out right now and ask for forgiveness.
Romans 13
1 -3Be a good citizen. All governments are under God. Insofar as there is peace and order, it's God's order. So live responsibly as a citizen. If you're irresponsible to the state, then you're irresponsible with God, and God will hold you responsible. Duly constituted authorities are only a threat if you're trying to get by with something. Decent citizens should have nothing to fear.
3 -5Do you want to be on good terms with the government? Be a responsible citizen and you'll get on just fine, the government working to your advantage. But if you're breaking the rules right and left, watch out. The police aren't there just to be admired in their uniforms. God also has an interest in keeping order, and he uses them to do it. That's why you must live responsibly—not just to avoid punishment but also because it's the right way to live.
6 -7That's also why you pay taxes—so that an orderly way of life can be maintained. Fulfill your obligations as a citizen. Pay your taxes, pay your bills, respect your leaders.
