One thing that I've learned in my faith walk is that you have to know God for your self. Many times people think its OK to just sit and listen to the preacher preach, read a verse on Sunday and they are set and a able fighter in the army of the Lord. Of course any true warrior knows that a Sunday service will not suffice. The time has come to stop believing that "One Sunday" praise is enough to carry you in everyday life.
Knowing God and experiencing God for your self requires you to spend time with Him daily. The way you normally get to know someone is to increase the time you spend with the individual. You have to read and study the Word of God. You must open your self up and again lean not to your own understanding. Or in this case don't count on the words of you preacher as truth. You have to be able to go back and do research and receive your own revelations from God.
Today's message is simple, study study study. Seek God and do not convince your self that just because you go to church on Sunday, you know all about the Lord.
2 Timothy 2
Doing Your Best for God
1 -7So, my son, throw yourself into this work for Christ. Pass on what you heard from me—the whole congregation saying Amen!— to reliable leaders who are competent to teach others. When the going gets rough, take it on the chin with the rest of us, the way Jesus did. A soldier on duty doesn't get caught up in making deals at the marketplace. He concentrates on carrying out orders. An athlete who refuses to play by the rules will never get anywhere. It's the diligent farmer who gets the produce. Think it over. God will make it all plain.
