When your down and feeling like nothing in your life is going the way you want it to go, or you feel like God is not there for you, you often hear that you should pray. I completely agree with that, 100 PERCENT! Prayer works! I recently was dealing with something in my life that was weighing on me heavily and my own "power" was not enough to get me out of the situation. I did not know what to do. The only thing that I could do is pray, so that is exactly what I did. My girlfriend and I live by the number 51. Let me explain to you what this is. We were sitting at the house working one day watching Family Feud. There was a family that won and moved to the final round where they had to try and what the majority of the people surveyed agreed on. The first member of the family went first and did ok. The second member of the family got up there are was doing pretty good and got the score up to 149. Now the final score to win is 200, so they were 51 points away from winning and the contestant was on the last question. I am thinking that they need 51 people to have agreed upon the same answer. Not a chance I said to myself, "You might as well go sit down". The host showed the contestants answer and said "You need 51 people to agree with you, SURVEY SAYS". Then you hear the ding and the number that appeared was...you guessed it 51points. When you pray, believe and have faith, God will be your 51 points!
Philippians 4:6-7
6 -7Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
Matthew 7:7-11
7 -11"Don't bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This isn't a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we're in. If your child asks for bread, do you trick him with sawdust? If he asks for fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? As bad as you are, you wouldn't think of such a thing. You're at least decent to your own children. So don't you think the God who conceived you in love will be even better?
