Stop Bragging

If its one thing I can't stand, it's people who put themselves in a higher position than what they really are. My parents taught me a long time ago that I should never brag and boast about what I have or what I have done in life. They always taught me that I should remain humble and let God elevate me before the people. If God wants everyone to know my works, he will make it happen. However, I don't have to do it myself.
Many people brag about things that aren't even bragable but in their minds its important for all to know. Peter tells us just how wrong this is. He reminds us how God likes down to Earth plain people and not anyone who is over the top.

1 Peter5:
4 -5When God, who is the best shepherd of all, comes out in the open with his rule, he'll see that you've done it right and commend you lavishly. And you who are younger must follow your leaders. But all of you, leaders and followers alike, are to be down to earth with each other, for—

God has had it with the proud,
But takes delight in just plain people.

6 -7So be content with who you are, and don't put on airs. God's strong hand is on you; he'll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.

Peter says it best when he says don't put on airs. Stop promoting your self. I drive this point home because I see a lot of people in my line of work boast about things that shouldn't be mentioned. Instead of people agreeing with them, these people are laughed at and made fun of. Next time you get ready to "self promote", just remember that is not your job. Allow God to do that for you.
