Hypothetically speaking, lets say you are out at a soup kitchen. Most of the people you are serving has a chip on their back from all of life's whoas. They see you with this smile on your face and immediately begin to attack you for trying to help. They say things like, "you think you better than us? Why are you here anyway?" What do you do at this point? In your heart you know you are doing is the right thing, but here are these people attacking you for trying to help.
This is a hypothetical situation but what we know is that it could be true. Many of us have been attacked for doing what we know is the right thing. The ultimate example of this is Jesus doing the right thing and dying for it.
1 Peter 3:
13 -18If with heart and soul you're doing good, do you think you can be stopped? Even if you suffer for it, you're still better off. Don't give the opposition a second thought. Through thick and thin, keep your hearts at attention, in adoration before Christ, your Master. Be ready to speak up and tell anyone who asks why you're living the way you are, and always with the utmost courtesy. Keep a clear conscience before God so that when people throw mud at you, none of it will stick. They'll end up realizing that they're the ones who need a bath. It's better to suffer for doing good, if that's what God wants, than to be punished for doing bad. That's what Christ did definitively: suffered because of others' sins, the Righteous One for the unrighteous ones. He went through it all—was put to death and then made alive—to bring us to God.
There will be people who come at your or sling mud your way for doing the right thing. The thing you have to remember is that you do what you do for God not them. You also need to be ready and have a response for people like that. Depending on the situation you do not have to respond because Jesus never said a word. Stay encouraged, and continue to do the right thing. There will be those who come at you just because they know you are doing right and they want to ruin your witness. Do not allow that to happen. Just keep doing whats right.
