As the daughter of two ministers, I was held at a higher standard than others. For so long I strive to be the "good girl" that everyone thought I was suppose to be. Yet it was hard to keep that persona when I was somewhat of a hot head. I've never been one to back down from a fight or allow others to get picked on or taken advantage of. Throughout the years I battled with anger management issues. One counselor after another. Yet it was after reading certain scriptures that help me keep a cool head and not flip out over little things.
Ephesians 4:26-27 ESV /
Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.
Proverbs 29:11 ESV
A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.
James 1:19-20 ESV
Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
Proverbs 19:11 ESV
Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.
James 1:20 ESV
For the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
Colossians 3:8 ESV /
But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.
Really, I am just a Christian with my own battle and own sins to overcome. There are many people like me. Be angry at times but do not sin. Do not compromise your witness. Until next time. Related Articles :
