You ever wake up in the morning just thanking God for just being God? You ever just sit back and be in awe at God's goodness and his mercy. This morning I woke up not asking for anything not expecting anything. I was just thankful for God being who he is. There are times when you need to just thank God for being God. Stand back and be amazed by just how powerful he is. Too many times we don't recognize his presence and too many time we feel we deserve the blessings we get. This morning, I was thankful to just be alive. This morning, I was thankful to be able to move my limbs. This morning, I was thankful that I had a roof over my head, slept in a warm cozy bed, and had heat in my home.
Many of us knows how it feels to just do and do for someone and never get so much as a thank you in return. You know how it feels to not get the acknowledgment you deserve. Since you know that feeling, you shouldn't wish it on anyone else, including God. Take time out right now to think about all that God has bought you through and all that he is doing for you right now. Appreciate the small things and remember how God does not HAVE TO bless you.
Psalm 8
A David Psalm
1 God, brilliant Lord, yours is a household name.
2 Nursing infants gurgle choruses about you;
toddlers shout the songs
That drown out enemy talk,
and silence atheist babble.
3 -4 I look up at your macro-skies, dark and enormous,
your handmade sky-jewelry,
Moon and stars mounted in their settings.
Then I look at my micro-self and wonder,
Why do you bother with us?
Why take a second look our way?
5 -8 Yet we've so narrowly missed being gods,
bright with Eden's dawn light.
You put us in charge of your handcrafted world,
repeated to us your Genesis-charge,
Made us lords of sheep and cattle,
even animals out in the wild,
Birds flying and fish swimming,
whales singing in the ocean deeps.
9 God, brilliant Lord,
your name echoes around the world.
