Do you use bad language? Do you curse? Don't lie about it because you are not fooling anyone but yourself. Its funny when people wanna limit the amount of time they curse to "I do it when I get angry" or "Yeah, a few here, a few there, but nothing consistent". Well, did you know that there is power in words and how you speak can effect a lot that is going on around you and in your life? My grandmother use to call it "having a filthy mouth". You ever think about why they call using foul language "cursing".
Some people also call it swearing. God showed us just how powerful words can be when he said "Let there be light" and it was so. Society has conditioned us to a point that we think we can swear and curse and it not be used in a negative content. I remember Bill Cosby saying people swear as a means to cover their lack of vocabulary. Personally, I admit to having a few words slip here and there. I remember during those times however, it was all I heard and it was hard not to speak like the people around me. Now, the people I hang around do not curse or use foul language. I find my self not using it either. While I do have my moments, my goal is to not use it at all.
Mark 13:31: Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away
Believe or not, many people will remember what you say before they can remember your face. Many people remember what Obama or Jay-Z said before they can tell you what they wore when they were saying it. You have no clue who is around you at the time your speak. Be mindful of any comment because even after you die, your words (good or bad) shall live on. Until next time....
